Does Sentry’s Free Plan Support Slack Alerts?
No. Sentry’s hosted free Developer plan does not support Slack alerts. It can send alerts and notifications by email, but Slack is a third-party integration and requires a paid Sentry plan.
That is the short answer as of August 29, 2026. Sentry’s pricing page lists “Alerts and notifications via email” for the $0 Developer plan. The $26/month Team plan adds “API & third-party integrations.” Sentry identifies Slack as an integration that can receive rule-based alert notifications.
Email notifications are not Slack alerts
The Developer plan does include alerting. The restriction is on where Sentry can deliver the alert:
- Email: included with Sentry Developer.
- Slack: not included with Sentry Developer.
- Slack on hosted Sentry: requires Team or a higher paid plan.
Sentry’s Slack integration does more than forward an email. It connects a Sentry organization to a Slack workspace and
lets an alert rule post into a specific channel. Sentry’s own

describes Slack as an integration with an alert-rule feature.
Sentry Free versus Hosted Bugsink
Both plans cost $0, but their free alert destinations and error-event allowances differ.

The event-volume comparison is about ingestion, not storage. Hosted Bugsink accepts three times as many incoming error events per month, but its free plan retains 5,000 events.
This table is deliberately limited to error tracking and alert delivery. Sentry Developer also includes 5 GB of logs, 5 million tracing spans, and 50 session replays. Bugsink focuses on error tracking and does not try to replicate that broader observability product.
Free Slack alerts on Hosted Bugsink
Hosted Bugsink’s free 15K / Evaluation plan supports the same chat-alert mechanisms as its paid hosted plans. Bugsink can send alerts to Slack, Discord, Mattermost, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, and custom webhooks.
For Slack, the setup is:
- Create a Slack app and enable Incoming Webhooks.
- Choose a channel and copy its webhook URL.
- Add a Slack messaging service to the Bugsink project and paste the URL.
- Send a test alert from Bugsink.

Switching from Sentry to Bugsink
The Sentry SDK captures exceptions inside your application; its DSN tells it which server should receive them. Bugsink accepts the same Sentry event format, so switching the error-tracking backend does not require another agent, a different SDK package, or rewritten capture calls.
Create a Bugsink project, copy its DSN, and replace the Sentry DSN in your application configuration.
